About Spice Blend Calculator

Every number on a tool page comes from a source you can see on that page. Nothing here is averaged across recipes or estimated to fill a gap.

• Ratios and conversions name the publisher they came from, with a link, so you can read the original yourself.
• Blend recipes come from one named publisher each. The amounts are checked on the publisher's own page before they're used, and the page credits the recipe as adapted from that source.
• Gram weights come from USDA FoodData Central. When USDA doesn't list an ingredient in the form a recipe uses, the page says grams aren't available instead of guessing.
• Salt weights come from USDA for table salt, America's Test Kitchen for the two major kosher salt brands, and each brand's own nutrition label for sea and mineral salts.
• Store-bought packet sizes are checked against the product label, and any page that uses them shows when they were last checked.

Sources are rechecked when the site's data is reviewed. If a source changes or a figure can't be confirmed, it comes off the page until it can.
