Scale by

Weight mode needs a USDA gram weight for every ingredient; Greek oregano doesn't have one.

From 0.25 to 20. Use 0.5 for half a batch.

Salt

Grind changes how much salt fits in a spoon. Amounts match by weight.

Your batch

Greek oregano leads at nearly a third of the blend by volume, with parsley, thyme, garlic powder, and onion powder next. The Mediterranean Dish names Diamond Crystal kosher salt specifically, so this calculator converts it by weight, and both the salt and the black pepper are marked optional in the source recipe.

This page doesn't use America's Test Kitchen's separate Greek Seasoned Salt Blend, which is built from the Seasoned Salt page's own recipe instead.

Homemade Greek Seasoning from The Mediterranean Dish, scaled with the site's kitchen rounding. Weights from USDA FoodData Central where USDA lists the exact form. Salt is shown as the recipe lists it.

How the scaling works

Homemade Greek Seasoning totals 1/2 cup as published, across 10 ingredients. Every one is multiplied by the same number, so Greek oregano stays 32% of the blend whatever size you make. Pick a multiplier directly, or enter the amount you want and the calculator works back to it from that 1/2 cup total.

The salt control changes only the salt line, never the rest of the blend. Amounts under 3 teaspoons round to the nearest 1/8 teaspoon, and larger amounts round to the nearest 1/4 teaspoon in tablespoons.

How this was checked

This recipe is The Mediterranean Dish's Homemade Greek Seasoning by Suzy Karadsheh. Cedrick Reese checked the amounts against The Mediterranean Dish's own recipe page for Ready Utilities. The source names Diamond Crystal kosher salt specifically, so its gram weight comes from that brand's own nutrition label, and converting by weight means table salt works fine as a substitute. Other gram weights are from USDA FoodData Central; Greek oregano and a couple of the dried herbs show no weight because USDA doesn't list that variety or leaf form.

Frequently asked questions

What is in Greek seasoning?

The Mediterranean Dish's recipe uses 2 1/2 tablespoons Greek oregano, 1 tablespoon each of dried parsley, thyme, garlic powder, and onion powder, 1 teaspoon dried basil, 1/2 teaspoon each of cinnamon and cumin, plus 1 teaspoon each of optional kosher salt and black pepper.

Can I leave out the salt and pepper?

Yes. Kosher salt and black pepper are both marked optional in the source recipe. Leaving them out shifts the remaining herbs and spices to a slightly larger share of the total.

Can I use table salt instead of Diamond Crystal kosher salt?

Yes. The calculator converts by weight, so picking table salt in the salt selector keeps the blend just as salty as the original recipe.

Is this the same as America's Test Kitchen's Greek Seasoned Salt Blend?

No. This page uses a separately sourced recipe from The Mediterranean Dish. America's Test Kitchen's Greek Seasoned Salt Blend is a different recipe built on the base used for the Seasoned Salt page on this site.
